New Year’s Eve 2016 | Blog Post And Vlog

I did it! That is, indeed, a smug look on my face in the above pic. For the first time in a couple of years I managed to see in the New Year. The last time I heard the bells chime at midnight was in 2014 – I am SO rock ‘n’ roll! And believe me I’ve tried, but I always end up falling asleep, glass of fizz clutched optimistically in my hand.

Celebrating The New Year

But this year was different, this year saw Andrew (AKA Mr Chic) and I booking a meal at our favourite Italian restaurant in Ramsgate and being bloody determined to watch the fireworks from the bough of our boat. Being surrounded by boats decked in their holiday finery certainly helped keep our spirits high – as of course did the fizz, hic!

The food at La Magnolia was, as always, superb. We spent a couple of hours chomping our way through the evening and toasting the New Year with a glass or two. Though, in all fairness, some of the glasses were filled with limoncello sorbet!New Year at La Magnolia in Ramsgate | Over 50 lifestyle and travel blog | The Barefaced Chic

We finished the evening sitting huddled up in our finest wet weather gear, on the bough of our boat, watching the fireworks, sipping fizz and chatting with fellow boat owners. We finally fell into bed at around 2am, somewhat tipsy but very, very happy.

However you celebrated New Year’s Eve and whatever your plans for 2017, may I raise a glass to a brilliant year to come. Cheers to you all!

Glad you had a nice time. Ramsgate harbour is pretty at Christmas (I live pretty close). We had friends to stay – lots of fun, laughter (playing Xbox) and booze. By 2am we were all ready for bed! Happy New Year to you and yours.

I usually stay at home and fall asleep but this year we had a little party and Isobel stayed up to see the new year in for the first time. I had a serious hangover that lasted about three days! The limoncello sorbet sounds delicious! Happy New Year!

Hangovers are the worst! Have you tried Milk Thistle? It’s not a miracle cure, but it does help.

I was in bed by 10:30, but I made sure to consume plenty of fizz before then 🙂 Your hair looks amazing, and now I’d love a nice big glass of lemon cello sorbet, please! xx
