There is now a big fat SOLD sign on our front lawn, which means only one thing – it’s time to start packing *insert terrified emoji of your choice here*. We’ve already made a start, but before the house becomes engulfed in a fortress of cardboard boxes, I thought you might like a house tour.
If you’re anything like me, you like nothing more than a nose around other people’s houses. I’m always fascinated by how people decorate, and if their house fits into a certain style. I also love to see if their house reflects their personality.
As you’ll see from the pics, the house has four bedrooms. So what do you do when there are only two of you living in a four bedroomed house? Why, you use one as your dressing room / office – of course 🙂
The pink room is the one that I claimed as mine, and it’s where I do most of my work. It also houses my shoe collection. The shoes that you see on the shelves are just a small selection, yep – I am a teensy bit shoe obsessed.
Above: The lounge actually had us scratching our heads when we first decorated. It’s great to have such a large space (yes, it is as big as it looks), but it was difficult to make if feel homely. We decided to create a reading area next to the french doors. It’s one of my favourite spots especially when the sun is shining and I can throw open the doors onto the side patio.
As you can see, we chose to go down the contemporary home decor route. Although I have enjoyed this style, there is one thing I certainly won’t miss when we move – the dusting! No matter how often the house is cleaned, no matter what products are used it is ALWAYS dusty. Shiny and glass surfaces will be banned in our next home, that’s for sure.
Speaking of cleaning I would like to thank Oreck for coming to my rescue. After tweeting about the trouble I had with my vacuum (it is sooooo heavy, and making the most alarming noises), they came to my rescue and sent me an Oreck Magnesium vacuum cleaner. What with all the frequent cleaning in readiness for the viewings we had, and repeatedly cleaning the place as we start to pack; it’s been an absolute godsend.
I can’t tell how much easier it’s been running around with a vacuum that’s so lightweight. It’s also so powerful that it’s removing the furniture indentations from the carpets. It’s a bit of a beast – result! So I will leave you with a photograph of our lounge as it is now.
I don’t know whether to be sad because our home is now beginning to fill an alarming number of boxes, or to be excited for the adventure ahead. I must admit, the thing that’s killing me at the moment is just how messy it all is, but at least thanks to Oreck it’s a clean mess!
And yes, before you ask we totally made a fort from the empty boxes. We even ate dinner in it! So what do you think? Is my home what you expected? Are you surprised at my choice of decor? Do let me know in the comments.
