A FunFilled Weekend With Friends | The Chelsea Flower Show 2017 #Ad

Feet up on the bed at the hotel for The Chelsea Flower Show 2017 | Lifestyle blog for women over 50 | The Barefaced Chic

Being a blogger, or digital influencer (which seems to now be the buzz phrase) has brought so much into my life. Don’t get me wrong, it’s damn hard graft – but I sometimes get to experience the most amazing things and call it ‘work’.

Take last Friday for instance which found me, along with all the ladies from The Over 40 Collective, being wined, dined and generally spoiled rotten courtesy of MADELEINE (a brand that I will be talking more about in my outfit post on Monday).

The mini London break and visit to The Chelsea Flower Show 2017, which was organised by Bright Light PR, saw us being ensconced for the night in a rather nice hotel, whisked off to the flower show, fed and watered (well, champagned) in Jardin Blanc, an exclusive members’ only area where the menu was created by Raymond Blanc no less.

The good man himself was there to oversea the proceedings and put on a couple of cookery displays. I’m not sure if my culinary skills will improve but it was a pleasure to watch him create. It was also a pleasure to get a kiss goodbye from this rather charming Frenchman (though don’t tell Liz (What Lizzy Loves), we’re arguing over him 😉)

After lunch a few of went for a wander around the floral filled marque. I did go into a bit of sensory overload and ended up sneezing my way around the displays, but boy was it worth it!

After recovering from my sneezing fit it was time to wander back to Jardin Blanc to sample the amazing afternoon tea. Being as I’m still on my weight loss journey, I didn’t go overboard but what I had was utterly delicious!

Yet, despite all this wonderful luxury, the thing that put the biggest smile on my face was being able to spend time with this lovely lot:

We didn't all get together the evening before the show, but this pic (taken by Catherine) captures the joy we felt at being together!

Of all the pleasure and opportunity blogging has brought me, the gift of friendship has to be at the top of my achievement list. Join me on Monday for a full outfit post, my thoughts on MADELEINE and their offering for 40 plus women. Until then here’s a sneak peek of my outfit.

Until then cheers!

Hi Michelle, looks like a fab time was had by all. I’ve only just signed up but really looking forward to coming along for the ride! I’m a (relatively new) garden designer in the West of Ireland and my job is hard to dress for as I need to look smart for client meetings but often have to survey a site straight afterwards before rushing off to the school pickup. Whatever I wear has to be compatible with my trusty Hunter wellies and usually a rainproof mac as well. I was at Chelsea too last week and very sneezy / scratchy – throaty which I wouldn’t normally be, so there was definitely some kind of weird new pollen about. Well just thought I would say hello! Happy weekend

I adore gardens but I’m useless at actually growing anything. I really don’t have green fingers, but my husband is pretty good. He designed the garden in our old house. There are a few pics of it in this post if you want to take a look -> https://www.thebarefacedchic.co.uk/life/house-tour/
Glad to have you along for the ride!

Ah thank you Melissa! I had such a wonderful time, although I did go into sneeze overload at one point. I’m actually in the process of uploading my very first weekly vlog. It should be published tonight (June 7th) :)

You all looked like you had the time of your lives! The photos are beautiful – all those gorgeous flowers! I bet the scent was divine everywhere you went. And how lucky to be tempted by Raymond Blanc (his food… tempted by his food!!)
