Weight Loss Journey | Week 6 & 7 | A Foodie Blowout

I am, without a shadow of a doubt, a bit of a foodie. I love experimenting with new flavours, trying new restaurants, savouring the naughty (but oh so nice) goodies on offer. Which can sometimes make losing weight a bit of a challenge – especially when I get whisked away for a midweek, romantic break in Cardiff city.

A Foodie Blowout

So did I stick to my health eating plan? Nope. Do I regret it? Nope.

I know I keep banging on, but I am slowly plodding my way to the finish line when it comes to weight loss. If my health was at risk I would certainly stick to my healthy eating plan rigidly. But, despite my body letting me down on occasion lately, I am not on a strict health focused diet – I am changing the way I eat in order to shed the excess weight and feel better in myself. And that means not constantly denying myself.

So, when it comes to short breaks, anniversaries, birthdays and holidays I will still be doing what I’ve always done – enjoying myself! And that includes a bit of overindulgence now and again.

There is one part of this road to a healthier me that I have stuck to almost completely over the last seven weeks though, and that’s ditching the junk. When I talk about a foodie blowout I’m talking about a five course tasting menu, I’m not talking about pizza, burgers and fries every night.

Not that there’s anything wrong with having the odd fast food meal, I simply find them way too addictive and the odd burger is sometimes in danger of turning into takeaways every night. So I’ve walked away (almost completely) from the junk. But afternoon tea with a glass of prosseco? Well, don’t mind if I do!

    Its so difficult to stay on track when we just love food isnt it! Im on my own health quest at the moment, and Im sure I would be perfect if I didnt venture out of the house! I too am a foodie and I think every aspect of my social life revolves around food in some way. Glad you enjoyed your “blow out” have a great week x

      I am such a foodie! Like you, our social lives seem to revolve around food and eating out. We also love to cook up a storm. It’s difficult, but I’m definitely getting there – albeit slowly

    I think you’re doing a great job!! You are correct in that denying yourself all the time is the fastest way to find yourself face first in a bag of Doritos! Way to go on giving up the junk food!!! I was a personal trainer for years and I too am about to get serious with myself again. I FEEL so much better when I am eating right and exercising regularly. And at my age, I think its more necessary than ever! I love your blog!
