What To Wear To An Award Ceremony If You Are Carrying Extra Weight

I have, it has to be said, put on a whole heap of weight over the last few months. I think running around for business meetings, eating what I can when I can, not making healthy choices and lack of exercise have really taken their toll. So when I was shortlisted for the UK Blog Awards 2018 my first thought was, “What on earth am I going to wear?!”

Enter a mad dash around the shops looking for something that would flatter my somewhat generous bod – I am now a UK size 14 and all the extra weight is in all the wrong places. Everything I picked up seemed to draw attention to those parts of me I wish to cover up – at least until my new healthy eating plan does its job and my weight decreases.

Just as I was about to give up and leave empty-handed I spotted this rather unusual kaftan. It hangs really well, gives the illusion of a smaller waist and hides a multitude of ‘sins’. I love it, Andrew hates it, what do you think?

I was lucky enough to leave the awards with a Highly Commended in the Lifestyle category which is quite an accomplishment for this little blog of mine.

A big thank you to everyone who voted to get me to the UK Blog Awards. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading what to wear to an award ceremony if you are carrying extra weight – and Andrew added, “And you want to look like an explosion in a paint factory.” 🙄

I’ll be popping a video up soon about the evening itself.

I think the dress is gorgeous and you make it even look better. I bet Andrew had trouble taking your pictures when he doesn’t like the dress haha. My husband has.
    Congratulations on your style award.

MLD I thought you looked absolutely radiant – it was so funny when we met in the park and both floated around in our floaty dresses, lol 😉

HUGE congratulations on your highly commended, I was really hoping you’d get something as your blog has so much inspirational content in it. VERY well done, and I’ve forgiven you (finally) for leaving early… it was still lovely to see the two of you!!

I was gutted that we had to leave early but I started to feel really ill. I think it was lack of food
I wasn’t expecting to get anything so was pretty thrilled with my highly commended.
Huge congrats right back at you for your win – two years in a row!!!!

Congratulations on your well deserved award! You look stunning in the kaftan and I love the way you’ve styled your hair in these photos. Where is the bracelet from? It’s gorgeous!
