Things I Almost Bought In Quiz Yesterday

Lately I’ve been spending my evenings surfing (not the ‘how long can I stay on a surfboard until I fall to my certain death’ kind (because, hello people, clumsy gene) the ‘I am determined to get a dress for the UK Blog Awards if it kills me’ kind). After the Google God let me down, yesterday found me shlepping around Doncaster searching for what seems to be the holy grail of dresses – magical and nigh on impossible to find.

Ten hours I searched, ten hours people! Now I could put this massive investment of time down to the fact that Doncaster shopping centre is a bit of a sprawling beast. The indoor centre is what you would expect from your average town, but the streets surrounding the centre all hide the odd gem of a store. Which means a whole lot of walking, especially if you forget which store you saw that bag, which might just go with the rather lovely shoes that you saw in that other store. Now what store were were they in?

In actual fact, the sprawlingness (is that even a word?) had nothing to do with it. What delayed me was my two second goldfish brain. I would walk into a store determined to only look at the evening dresses, and then promptly be sidetracked by a really cute pair of sandals, or the perfect white jeans. I swear, I need shopping blinkers!

I think the biggest time suck was Quiz, I kept picking things up and putting things back on the shelves, then picking them up again. At one point I stood in the middle of the store and gave myself a stern talking to. Which went a bit like this:

ME: Come on woman, you need to concentrate. Stop picking up crepe shirts and look at the evening dresses.

me: But it’s so pretty. Can’t you imagine it worn over capri pants?

ME: Put it back on the shelf.

me: Don’t wanna!

ME: If you don’t put it back on the shelf we are catching the next bus home!

me: Why you so mean? Oh, pretty shoes!

ME: I give up!

Yeah, so I almost caved and bought this Quiz patterned shirt dress :

And these lovely things made it into my basket, only to be put back on the shelves by the sensible me (who can put a real damper onto shopping trips):
Multi coloured balloon print court shoes from Quiz
Grey shimmer brooch platfrom shoes by Quiz

Nautical style navy and cream contrast lapel jumpsuit
Blue denim dress with longs sleeves and buttons up the front
Black and grey long sleeved waterfal cardigan

The upside of my mega shopathon is that I am now the proud owner of a rather eye-catching evening dress. Now I just need accessories. I feel a shopping trip coming on, and I may just allow myself a few Quiz purchases. Which of the above would make it into your shopping basket?

UPDATE: I actually purchased the last lightweight jacket which you can see in this post and this post.

Cheerio.

Oh my goodness. That denim shirt dress and the nautical-ish jumpsuit would be have been put “straight into my baaaaaasket”. I didn’t realise Doncaster had such a large shopping area and my goodness, 1o hours. That is good going Michelle. Can’t wait to see your awards outfit! xxxxxx

I know Liz, I actually dreamed of the jumpsuit last night. I’m off to Doncaster again next week, I have a feeling I will crack 🙂
