A Rose Gold Sequinned Dress For The UK Blog Awards Ceremony

What do you wear to the UK Blog Awards ceremony? Well if you’re me, you plump for a full length rose gold sequined dress with a cowl back. Let’s face it; if there is ever a time to really go for it and pull out of the glamour stops it’s got to be for an event such as this. And pull them out I certainly did!

I took my time getting ready for my 6.30 pickup, by a brand new BMW 7 Series no less which whisked me to The Park Plaza Hotel. The theme of the evening was Roald Dahl, which meant being met at the entrance by the BFG – he’s a big lad don’t you know!

Odeon Cinemas had waved a magic wand and transformed an area of the venue into a mini cinema – complete with popcorn to nibble on.

The pre-ceremony fizz was free flowing (unlike last year I only had the one glass before the ceremony – yeah, I got a bit tipsy last year and didn’t want a repeat performance), the cute canapés were delicious and the room was filled with bloggers dressed in their finery and networking their little socks off (not that most of them were wearing socks, but you know what I mean).

The air crackled with anticipation and excitement and I crackled with static – yep, my ever-so-perfectly matched throw kept giving me static shocks. Not to worry though, I do have an electric personality – groan!

As you may know if you follow The Barefaced Chic, I didn’t win an award (what the hell am I now going to put in that space on my shelf?), but the experience alone was enough to smack my gob, and I’m hoping for a repeat performance next year.

So thank you all for voting for The Barefaced Chic, you really did make this blogger a very happy lady. And not just because I got to wear a rose gold sequined dress! 🙂

Cheerio.

Hi Michelle, I’m a relative newcomer to the world of fashion blogging and have only come across your blog today for the first time. I saw a photo of you and Catherine on Instagram at the awards ceremony and thought you both looked stunning. Rose gold is my favourite of the gold tones, and I must admit your whole outfit cetainly delivered the wow factor befitting a fashion blogger! I hope to delve a bit deeper into your posts to see what you have to say, but already I can see why you were nominated for an award. You have a lovely writing style and that’s only from reading the intro about you. It’s so good to find another quality blogger and I look forward to reading more of your posts.

Thank you so much Liz! It was, indeed, and honour to be shortlisted – I think if I had won I’d have fallen off the stage in shock. Next year though, look out shelf there’s a trophy to be had 🙂

I bet hubby couldn’t keep his eyes off you the entire evening? It’s a shame you didn’t come home with the Award but you were already a winner in that dress anyway xxx

Should I ever have the opportunity to wear an evening gown for a special night, it has to be your dress, Michelle! You look absolutely beautiful!
I’d love for you to have won but there is always a second chance and I am glad you had a wonderful evening together with Catherine!

Oh and please, when you send over the dress, don’t forget that bottle of champagne 😉

    Much love,

Alas Annette, the champagne disappeared rather quickly! I did love that dress though, I felt like a million dollars in it. And I had such an amazing evening. I’m really hoping I get through next year – you’ll have to come with me xx

Oh My God, I’ve seen a few photos, but I’ve really enjoyed soaking them all in here in your post. You look absolutely fantastic, Michelle. You should win an award just for that dress alone! xxx

      Thank you Lisa,
I think we should demand an award for the most sparkly dress next year 🙂

      Hi Claire
I bought in a small boutique in Yorkshire, the label says LYDC. I actually bought such a large bag for the evening because I wanted to take a pair of flats with me. They fit in the bag perfectly, as did the small bottle of fizz 🙂
