Fashion Over 50 – Black And White Maxi Dress

During my recent visits to Ramsgate, I’ve been incredibly lucky with the weather. Whilst the rest of the country seems to have sloshed around under a deluge of rain, I have sat in the sunshine – please don’t hate me 🙂

Not that this is always the case, Ramsgate sits in the district of Thanet which seems to have it’s very own climate. I can sometimes step off the boat to pouring rain, only to find that ten minutes away is being baked in glorious sunshine.

It’s a bit like playing a game of weather roulette: Mr Chic and I chose where we’re going to stay for a few days, roll the dice and hope. We’ve struck lucky with our gambles lately, which means I’ve had quite a few opportunities to experiment with my Summer wardrobe.

For a very relaxed, informal meeting followed by a couple of hours of cafe culture, I decided to wear my black and white maxi dress which I styled with a whole heap of monochrome accessories. I must admit, I’m thoroughly enjoying pushing my own boundaries when it comes to a bit of pattern mixing.

I used to shy away from patterns, but now I’m having a pattern mixing blast. I think keeping to the same colour palette has eased me in, that and the willingness to just throw something together and see how it looks. Moving forward I think I’ll try experimenting with more diverse colour schemes – watch this space.A black and white maxi dress styled with monochrome accessories. I was tempted to style this black and white maxi dress with simple, white accessories. I’m rather glad I didn’t. What do you think? Would you have kept it simple, or would you have ramped up the accessories even more? Leave me a comment and let me know.

Thanks Suzy, it is a beautiful setting. I think I could throw on a sack and nobody would really notice, they’d be too caught up in the backdrop 🙂

Wow lady have you been working out or what? Such a fabulous figure you have particularly in this gorgeous figure hugging maxi! And may I ask where you keep all your sensational hats? 😉

Ha, thanks Michelle. I’m back exercising after my embargo, I think it’s beginning to pay off but it’s slow going. As for the hats, I am now the proud owner of around 20 which (luckily for me) all nestle on top of each other so they don’t take up as much room as you would think. In fact, I think I could squeeze in a few more 🙂
