My 50th Birthday Outfit – Black and Beige Striped Dress, Heels & Black Stole

Mr Chic excels at many things, but one of my favourites has to be his knack of organising awesome, romantic surprises. For my 50th he really pushed the boat out and treated me to a spa break in Chester.

From the moment we left home it was a whirlwind of surprises – lunch at a three rosette restaurant, a stunning hotel, spa treatments, afternoon tea at a quirky Alice in Wonderland inspired tea shop, beer tasting in the heart of the city (yes, I love the odd pint), all nicely interspersed with plenty much relaxation and one or two shopping trips. Bliss!!

For the evening of my 50th we had dinner at the rather fancy hotel restaurant, which gave me an excuse to really dress up (as if I need an excuse). One of my go-to evening dresses is my black and beige striped dress – it’s formal without being over the top, it’s incredibly comfortable and it’s forgiving of the odd, overindulgent Christmas bulge; especially when teamed with a chiffon, black stole.

As you can probably tell from the pics, I rounded off my birthday evening by relaxing in a bath of bubbles whilst sipping bubbles. The perfect end to a perfect 50th birthday – cheers!

Belated Happy Birthday! Not that it matters, but you don’t look a day over 40. Kudos to Mr Chic for being such an outstanding social director. Mr H., bless him, tends to do this sort of thing on non-occasions. I swear that man cannot read a calendar to save his life, but hey, he tries.

I’m six years older than you and can’t recall for the life of me what I did for my 50th. Probably pulled up the drawbridge and sulked with a bottle of Moet.

Thanks Ali, Mr Chic is pretty darn good at the old wooing. And thank you for the compliment 🙂
