I’m Giving Up, And Giving It Up To St Val

OK so I am not, it has to be said, the biggest fan of Valentine’s day. Not that I’m not up for a bit of the old romancing, but the thought of being romantic on demand kind of has me scratching my head in bemusement.

Yet it’s difficult, unless you live under a rock, to not get caught up in the love fest that permeates the weeks leading up to the 14th.

So this year I’ve decided to give in, hold my hands up in surrender and give it up to good old St Val. But, being as my diary is as full as an egg and liable to change at the drop of a hat, I’ve decided that Andrew and I are going to celebrate as and when the mood takes us. Being sure to take advantage of the fizz, chocolate and restaurant offers that abound at this time of year pf course 🙂

The first on our hit list of romance was a rather lovely bistro called Westminster Kitchen. Now I’m afraid that we were not in London for the best of reasons. Those of you who have watched my latest vlog will know that a family member is in St Thomas’ Hospital, and I can’t say that it was the most relaxed and romantic of meals. But hey, life has thrown us some really sh*tty curve balls of late so we are determined to have as much ‘us’ time as we possibly can – even if that’s a quick meal before catching yet another ruddy tube!

Top | Cardigan | Trousers | Bag | Shoes | Necklace | Bracelet – all c/o Matalan.

In case your wondering, this outfit shoot was taken a few days after the rug got metaphorically pulled out from under our feet, but it’s exactly what I wore for my not so wonderful London adventure. Apart from the shoes, there’s no way I would try and negotiate the hell that is the underground escalators in anything other than flats!

So there you have it, me giving it up to St Val in my own slightly-bemused-at-the-whole-thing way. How will you be giving it up to St Val, or does the whole thing leave you cold? Let me know what you have planned in the comments.

Cheerio.

Oh I’m sorry you’re have a rough time at the moment, Michelle 🙁
But I’m glad you’re at least trying to make the most of this time of year. Michael and I don’t really do much for Valentine’s either – not since we got married nearly 19 years ago! But we might go out for a bite to eat though 😉

It would be a shame not to take advantage of the offers that the restaurants are throwing at us at the moment. Do you get that in Portugal?

We pretty much ignore Valentine’s day, and it has not affected negatively our 47 years of marriage. It is my hope that health issues in your family will be resolved soon. Love your hair style.

Thank you Elisa, for the compliment and the good wishes!
I’ve always been a bit bemused by romance on demand. Congratulations your 47 years, it’s obvious that you don’t need St Valentine in your life 🙂

Valentine’s Day isn’t popular in Germany – only over that last years the industry is trying to make it a special occasion i.e. commercial. I am sure my parents wouldn’t even know the date! I do hope, you and Andrew will have some time together after all your recent family challenges.
Love these soft neutral tones, Michelle – beautiful shoes (perfect heel!) and bag – and your nail varnish gorgeous!

Gorgeous look! it really suits you 🙂
My valentines day plans, I’m going out for a meal with my other half. I’m normally a sucker for valentines day but this year I’m not really too bothered so some nice food and a chilled out evening sounds like bliss 😀
Sorry to hear about your family member, hope everything will be ok for them soon!
Hope you get the chance to have some time the two of you very soon as well 🙂
