A Spot Of Country Chic – Investment Pieces

Well, for those of you who have kept up with my bizarre life of late and are wondering what’s going on – we are now living in Wales. We still haven’t found a house that we love enough to call home, so we have moved into one of our rental properties.

I can’t say it’s perfect, but it could be a great base from which to do a spot of house searching. It also has the most awesome walks right on the doorstep. Which is giving me the opportunity to indulge in a spot of country chic.

I’ve been looking for a good, lightweight, trench coat for a while now. I’ve been really thinking about the clothes I buy lately, and am purchasing far more investment pieces that will see me through a number of years, rather than a season or two. Pieces that are not going to go out of fashion, and are exceptionally good quality.

This short trench from Winser London fits the bill perfectly, and when Winser asked me and the other ladies from The Over 40 Collective to choose something from their Autumn/Winter collection I snapped this jacket up faster than Linford runs a 100 metres!

It is just the most gorgeous shade of blue – not too dark, not too light. I decided to play up to the colour by teaming it with creams. The jumper adds just a touch of sparkle and lace. I topped the whole look off with a rather snazzy hat.

The jacket does come with a belt, but I decided to leave it off and go for a more relaxed look. The scarf, also from Winser, is thick enough to be cozy yet soft enough to be comfy. I was tempted to go for more colour, but I wanted the blue of the jacket to do all the talking.

So what do you think of my flirtation with a spot of country chic? I’m kind of loving it, not least because I got a wolf-whistle from a couple of dog walkers. Mind you, they might have been whistling to their dogs 😳

As regular readers may know, I am a very proud member of The Over 40 Collective. This group of seven dynamic women is beginning to shake up the way mature bloggers and brands work together. Our aim is to showcase clothing and accessories that will appeal to our readers. In short: we seek out the very best that’s on offer for this rather discerning demographic.

And here are the other six ladies from The Collective all styling Winser London in their own, unique way:

That blue material looks sensational against your tanned skin Michelle! Why are you so tanned by the way? You sure you’re in Wales? 😉
Owning a high quality Trench Coat has always been a goal of mine that I’m yet to achieve – This beauty is definitely on my wish list now!

The tan is, I’m sad to say, fake. Not that I lie for hours in the sun baking, but it would be nice to have the opportunity to

The trench is defiantly worth getting, I’ve worn it a LOT already, it’s going to see many years xx

You look great! I doubt I’d be able to wear those white jeans for long though…you obviously don’t own a Labrador who loves muddy puddles !!

I’m beginning to understand, my daughter has a Springer Spaniel pup. He’s adorable, but very furry! And he too loves mud
