Can I Wear Leather Trousers At 50? Hell Yeah!!

Well it’s the penultimate day of Catherine of Not Dressed As Lamb’s #iwillwearwhatilike campaign, and tomorrow is the turn of leather trousers. I’m sure lots of mature ladies have asked themselves the question, “Can I wear leather trousers at 50? Or 40? Or 30?” The answer my lovely ladies is – HELL YEAH!!

If they make you happy, and if you feel good in them  – then why on earth wouldn’t you? Ah, because society may raise an eyebrow? Because ‘experts’ have been ramming their ‘rules’ down your throat for so long that you’ve started to believe them? Because you worry about what other people might think?

Here’s what I say; society, ‘experts’ and other people are usually so wrapped up in themselves, that for the majority of time they don’t even notice what you’re wearing! And if you do raise a few eyebrows so what? If we all go around worrying about others’ opinion of every choice we make in life, including what we wear, we’ll end up running around in circles trying to please everyone else. Believe me, I’ve been there and done that – it makes for a very unhappy, unsatisfying existence.

Leather Trousers – The Denim Co / Jacket – Be Beau / Necklace – c/o Happiness Boutique / Tiny Hair Accessory – I bought this tiny bug from Etsy, it’s made from a lightbulb! / Boots – With Love / Glasses – Metal Man Jewellery / Gloves – Gift, they have no label, sorry / Helmet – Arai

So wear the clothes you love with pride, and tell society where it can stick it’s ‘age appropriate’ opinion!!

Here’s to leathering up!

PS IMPORTANT – Please do not think for one minute that I am wearing my actual biking gear. I would NEVER get on a motorbike without wearing full, protective gear!! It was just too darn hot for padding 🙂

PPS I’d like to thank Catherine for starting the #iwillwearwhatilike campaign. Although it officially stops tomorrow, I think that little hashtag is going to get a lot more use in the future.

OMG Michelle my eyes nearly popped out of my head… HOW incredible do you look?!!!! Basically you’ve styled a pair of leather trousers – even by themselves a killer item – with even more sass that I can throw a stick at! Well done you for going the extra mile with your leather outfit and accessorising it sooooooooo fabulously!!

Thank you SO much for your unwavering support for #iwillwearwhatilike – it’s been a fantastic campaign and I’m so pleased that so many women have embraced it so. I’m so flattered by your words, my lovely, you’re a total sweetheart! Hope to see you next Monday (7th) for the first #iwillwearwhatilike link up on my blog… it lives on!

P.S. The rear view is ESPECIALLY impressive, hehe 😉

I was going for the ‘eyes popping out of head’ look, so I guess I succeeded 🙂
Seriously, it’s been a pleasure taking part in a campaign of such awesomeness, and how wonderful has it been seeing so many mature ladies letting go of the ‘rules’? I will do my very best to be with you next Monday, with bells on!! Well, not actual bells – that might be pushing styling a bit far. But then again…….
As for my rear end, a lot of people say that my butt is my best feature. Although I’m not sure if it’s just because they like seeing me leave 🙂
Looking forward to seeing a lot more #iwillwearwhatilike
      Much love

Dear Michelle, totally LOVE this, you look amazing!! I love leather trousers and I usually don’t care about age. Some in their twenties can’t pull off leather trousers, some in their 60s totally can. Love, Kirsten xx

I completely agree Kirsten! Style and fashion has absolutely nothing to do with age – it’s about what’s right for YOU!! xx

Seems like these leather pants and you were made for each others. What a great look! And I simply love the stunning necklace. Thank you for visiting my blog! Have a nice day!
