During my recent visits to Ramsgate, I’ve been incredibly lucky with the weather. Whilst the rest of the country seems to have sloshed around under a deluge of rain, I have sat in the sunshine – please don’t hate me :)
Not that this is always the case, Ramsgate sits in the district of Thanet which seems to have it’s very own climate. I can sometimes step off the boat to pouring rain, only to find that ten minutes away is being baked in glorious sunshine.
It’s a bit like playing a game of weather roulette: Mr Chic and I chose where we’re going to stay for a few days, roll the dice and hope. We’ve struck lucky with our gambles lately, which means I’ve had quite a few opportunities to experiment with my Summer wardrobe.
For a very relaxed, informal meeting followed by a couple of hours of cafe culture, I decided to wear my black and white maxi dress which I styled with a whole heap of monochrome accessories. I must admit, I’m thoroughly enjoying pushing my own boundaries when it comes to a bit of pattern mixing.
I used to shy away from patterns, but now I’m having a pattern mixing blast. I think keeping to the same colour palette has eased me in, that and the willingness to just throw something together and see how it looks. Moving forward I think I’ll try experimenting with more diverse colour schemes – watch this space.

I was tempted to style this black and white maxi dress with simple, white accessories. I’m rather glad I didn’t. What do you think? Would you have kept it simple, or would you have ramped up the accessories even more? Leave me a comment and let me know.
