January Beauty Box From Look Fantastic – Review

With the mayhem that has been my life for the past few months, I was forced to do most of my Christmas shopping online. Which, in my world, can be a very dangerous thing.

You see, despite my very best intentions, I have a habit of fancying things for myself. Every time I switch to ‘shopping mode’ I vow that I will only seek out the very best that the internet has to offer for my daughter, son, mum, next door’s dog – yet my eye is caught by the glint of ‘the very thing I’ve been looking for, in just the right colour’. My bank balance is doomed from the moment my computer beeps to life.

So it was inevitable that a December Beauty Box from Look Fantastic would ‘accidentally’ fall into my shopping basket.

Being impressed with the contents of much awesomeness I was going to blog about it. But alas, being as I placed my order rather late in December, by the time my box arrived it was no longer in stock .

But hurray for ordering early – I got in quickly and ordered January’s Box.

In all seriousness, I’ve been reading rave reviews about these little boxes of loveliness for a while now so I thought, in celebration of the launch of The Barefaced Chic, I would treat myself – and I’m glad I did.

Every Look Fantastic Beauty Box contains at minimum of six different products all wrapped in a very stylishly presented box which, for a fairly budget friendly £15, is delivered straight to your door. The contents are unknown until you unwrap your Beauty Box – it’s a bit like buying a surprise gift for yourself.

So what did I find in January’s’s box when I ripped the paper off in a frenzy of excitement delicately unwrapped it?

1. Nuxe Soothing And Re hydrating Fresh Mask

This lightweight mask went on really easily, smells divine and left my skin feeling fresh and soft. A little goes a long way – an absolute winner!

2. Gatineau Collagen Eye Compress

Whilst I’ve been a fan of under eye patches for some time, this is not a product that I have tried. It claims to revive and rejuvenate the eyes, help reduce dark shadow, plump out wrinkles and relax the eye contour – big claims for such a little packet. We’ll see how it goes.

3.    MyVitamins

When my life is a bit hectic or I feel ‘off colour’ multivitamins play a huge role in getting me back to my normal self. So I was really happy to find these lemon flavour, effervescent multivitamin and mineral tablets in my box. They dissolve quickly and taste pretty good. They are also offering 30% off purchases during January when using their voucher code. However, I do prefer to pop a pill when the need arises so I’m not sure I’m convinced. It was great to try something different though, which in essence is what beauty boxes are all about.

Molton Brown

4.   Molton Brown Refresh And Rejuvenate

This has a lovely fresh smell and lathers beautifully. I’ve been a longtime fan of Molton Brown but this isn’t one I’ve tried and I would definitely use it again. This will definitely be going in my travel wash bag.

5.   Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence

I have quite badly behaved hair, sometimes it has a complete mind of its own. So I love the thought of a leave in conditioning spray which not only provides defence from environmental effects but also protects from heat styling. Although I wasn’t keen on the smell (bit chemically for my delicate nose) this did allow me to comb through my wet locks without the utterance of one swear word – which is a bit of a miracle really.

6. Goldwell Cualsenses 60 Second Treatment

I’m always on the lookout for treatments for my coloured hair and I’m looking forward to trying this. It has a lovely, fruity smell – I’ll let you know how it goes.

My Verdict

After the huge success of last month’s box, I was expecting great things from Look Fantastic’s January offering, and although there is absolutely no doubt that it’s value for money, I can’t help feeling slightly disappointed by the lack of any makeup products. (December offered a travel size Lord and Berry kajal and a full size Bourjois eye colour trio).

This months edit leaned more towards skin loving treats and hair fixes- which is probably apt after the assaults we’ve probably put our hair and bodies through during the party season.

Whichever way you cut it, for only £15.00 (which includes delivery) Look Fantastic is a great way to try new products or stock up on your travel sizes.

The January box is still available via the Look Fantastic website, but I’d get in there quickly if you want one as they sell out fast!

Cheerio.

It looks as the name suggests: Fantastic! Really want to get one of these now, my bank balance doesn’t like it too much when I start online shopping neither 😉
